Section structure
1. SUBSTRATE FOR THE GREEN ROOF
Special lightweight nutrient soil mixture
2. FILTER FLEECE
Filters fine particles of the substrate from entering the drainage system
3. DRAINAGE AND STORAGE BOARD
Stores and drains excess water
4. PROTECTION AND STORAGE FLEECE
Protects the waterproofing and retains moisture
5. EXISTING ROOF STRUCTURE WITH WATERPROOFING
Input data from the building architect
Extensive green roof
The simplest and lightest type of green roof with plants that require minimal maintenance (e.g., sedums) and a minimal amount of special substrate.
An extensive green roof is mainly designed for roofs with limited human access (e.g., garage roofs, private homes, or business rooftops).
Intensive green roof
This is a green roof with a thick substrate layer and an automatic irrigation system, which can support the viability of various types of plants – perennials, shrubs, trees, and grass.
An intensive green roof is mainly designed for the roofs of high-rise buildings, business centers, as well as for underground parking garage roofs, at ground level (stylobate).
Standard system solutions
Extensive green roof
Weight: approx. 90-140 kg/m²
Build-up depth: 120 mm
Vegetation form: sedum
Water retention: 50-60%
- The most cost-efficient Green Roof solution
- Low maintenance Green Roof design
- Mainly sedum vegetation
Extensive green roof
Weight: 90 kg/m²
Build-up depth: 130 mm
Vegetation form: sedum
Water retention: 40%
- Extremely lightweight Green Roof structure
- Can be used with non-sloping roof without deep ponding
- Automatic irrigation system available for arid regions
- For use with fixed roof waterproofing only
- Specific wind loading calculations must be considered
Extensive green roof
Weight: 100-300 kg/m²
Build-up depth: 180-350 mm
Vegetation form: perennials, herbs, small shrubs
Water retention: 60-70%
- Ecologically valuable Green Roofing
- Can be implemented as a biodiversity space
- High evaporation capacity

- Accommodates a wide range of plants and animals
- Load calculation for mounds and deeper layers
Extensive/ Intensive green roof
Weight: 90-200 kg/m²
Build-up depth: 140-330+ mm
Vegetation form: sedum, perennials, grasses, shrubs, trees, lawn
Water retention: 70-100%
- Very low outflow rate, thanks to a specifically adjusted flow control unit
- High retention volume (WRB 80F approx. 75 l/m², WRB 85/95/170 – 80-160 l/m²)
- Lightweight thanks to hollow-body drainage unit (Water Retention Box WRB)
- High evaporation capacity thanks to integrated capillary system
- Basic prerequisite: 0° roof
- Very high compressive strength
Extensive green roof
Weight: 100-140 kg/m²
Build-up depth: 80-150 mm
Vegetation form: sedum (herbs, grasses)
Water retention: 30-40%
- Sustainable solutions for pitched Green Roofs
- Various system solutions according to roof design
- Economically efficient and reliable anti-slip system (used on roofs with a pitch greater than 15°)
Intensive green roof
Weight: 320 – 680 kg/m²
Build-up depth: 300-550 mm
Vegetation form: perennials, shrubs, small trees, lawn
Water retention: 70-90%
- Additional living space thanks to roof landscape
- Perennial beds, lawns usable for sports, bushes, ponds, sitting areas and much more
- Automatic irrigation possible
- Urban gardening: fruits and vegetables on the roof
Intensive green roof
Weight: 300-650 kg/m²
Build-up depth: 300-550 mm
Vegetation form: herbs, vegetables, fruit bushes
